I dont recommend this software. It has a poor chord interface an it isnt frendly user. Bad option per $20.

I always start it 20 minutes before my guitarstudents come, I improvise through a few standards to warm up. Real fun being able to change the backings of the songs to different styles (Jazz, Funk, Soul). Sounds great.
Seriously great app. Great for gigs or even just practicing at home.
Great little app, but not worth the 20 bucks for a 15 mb app
This is a great application, that I first got hip to on the iPhone (one of the main reasons I chose the iPhone) and it was great to see the MacOS version. I remember guys spending almost $400 on "Band-in-a-Box" which was a very similar program that was around a little less than 10 years ago. Wasnt nearly as nice as this one. I have this on all of my Mac products and the forums really expand its uses "out of the box" (I guess software doesnt really come in boxes anymore…)
Ok, that might be exaggerating; maybe not. As a professional musician and music teacher, I think it is the best metronome ever. Get it.
I purchased the app about a month ago, now the website for the forum is not working at all and as a result, songs cannot be downloaded from the forums. although the app is good, not having the forums makes this app totally useless.
LOVE IT - So easy to manipulate easy to ingratiate. - But still ! What about ORGAN SOUNDS + more STRING SOUNDS ! More VARIETY with GUITAR SOUNDS. THE BEST YET for this type of GIFT to MUSICIANS !!!
I have the iPad version of this app and basically have the same issues with that, but naievely thought that the Mac version would be better. It’s not. Editing is tortuous, particularly with regard to song structure and how to handle playback variations such as repeats. I’ve tried dozens of times to get the playback of songs the way I want it and have tried for hours to get repeats to work with little success. Even giving up on repeats, I run into limits on song size that seem crazy small and leave me unable to enter songs. The documentation - both in the app and online - is minimal and explains little. I’ve not been able to find any useful tutorials and have spent hours looking at example songs to try to figure out how this thing works. Forum support seems decent, but I’d rather read a well-written manual or tutorial than have to go asking for help every few minutes. Playback quality is OK, but not spectacular. There are few other features that make up for insane editor.
I love this app, and used it all the time, until it stopped opening. I get the message “‘iReal Pro’ is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete ‘iReal Pro’ and download it again from the App Store.” I’ve tried this several times and no luck. Any help is appreciated.
On iPhone iPad and Mac! Such a great Job ^.^
Very useful app for practicing. Have one for ipad too.
I bought this application yesterday and I fell in love immediately... even if I used only 10% of the features!! I highly recommend this app if you are a practicing student, I dont know if this can be the best choice if you already are a talented/professional musician. Im a Snow Leopard user and Im not planning to switch to 10.7 or 10.8 OSX because 10.6.8 is a great stable release: this doesnt allow me to install and use the guitar/piano chords feature.. this is the only reason why i give 4 stars. good job Technimo!
After upgrading Mac to Sierra, I see iRealPro constantly starting in an endless loop. It was working OK on El Capitan. Please fix or provide solution
This is something I really wanted but didnt know even existed until I saw it on the App Store. It eliminates the struggle of finding Aebersold playalongs for all the jazz standards and puts most of them into an organized, playback-enabled database. And there are 600+ more tunes on the website forums! Great stuff and a fantastic value for $20.
I was thinking of buying Band in a Box but was discouraged by the price. By the time you add all the packs plus all the songs that should be in the real book youre talkin some serious dough. Then, while I was just browsing the app store, I saw this real book app. Man, I cant believe all the songs that are in here! Even Tenderly which I had a hard time finding in the original real books is here! This is even better than having the Jamey Abersold collection! What a great app for musicians!
Everything u need to woodshed... no time spend adjusting the computer... u just get to play and u can add any song u want. great support to if u need, the real thing. much easier then trying to subit a review and picking a nickname
I heard about this from a friend and gave it a try...its a very useful application! Its an instant rhythm section for any chord progression. Most of the real book tunes are pre-included, and others can be had from their online forums. Or you can just type in the chords yourself, which is ridiculously easy. The piano is a bit cheesy at times, but for practicing, its more than adequate.
If you are a jazz musician or wannabe this is the best $20 you will ever spend. I play multiple instruments and use the transposition feature to create charts for the other instruments. I am fond of using new beats for old tunes and this app lets me try them first - as bossa nova, as son montuno etc. The library is huge and the forums provide many more tunes. Get this!
